Lunch at SFPCC

SFPCC is the only Harvard-affiliated Center with a full-time cook on staff and our own kitchen facilities. We serve a freshly prepared hot or cold lunch to all children daily. Daily lunch and snack are automatically included with your enrollment and do not require a separate fee. Our cook plans monthly menus in advance, these can be viewed below and are also posted in each classroom.

Lunches consist of a protein food (meat, cheese or beans), predominantly fresh fruits and vegetables, breads, pastas and organic milk. Whole milk is served to children under the age of 2 and 1% milk is served to those 2 years and up. Our menu exposes children to a wide variety of foods and they are encouraged to taste these varieties.

A morning and afternoon snack are also served each day. Snacks usually consist of fruit, cheese, yogurt, cereal, crackers, and water—in various combinations. In the older classes, somtimes snack is the result of a classroom-cooking project! When the weather is nice, we occasionally have snack outside—see our Infant 2 class (below) enjoying a springtime morning picnic on the surrounding Harvard Business School grounds.

Special food needs are accommodated whenever possible. In the case of children with allergies, or families whose diets are different from those of the Center (e.g. vegetarian) we will be happy to work with you to provide appropriate substitutions for your child to eat.

Due to the large number of children with severe allergic reactions to nuts, the Center strives to be “nut free.”
